Welcome to our Special Cases Page
On this page we feature dogs that are suitable for re-homing, but for different reasons, have not yet found a home.
Puppies are always adorable, and so often the first to get picked by people visiting the refuge. And we always have a selection of younger dogs to appeal to energetic people with young familes.
But we also have quite a few older residents - some have been with us since puppyhood and as they have got older, have been overlooked. But just like all the others, they want nothing more than a loving new home. For some people, giving a home to a dog in his or her later years could be the perfect answer – so if you could make an older dog happy, please contact us.
Kajsa
Kajsa was found in the car park of a closed-down roadside bar, by SOS volunteer Gill, in April '10. She was in a terrible condition and very close to death. She could barely stand up and a neighbour said she had been there for many days without food or water. Why didnīt he do something to help her? Blood tests with our vet revealed that Kajsa was deficient in many things. She was also seriously underweight and covered in tics. Kajsa has now gained five kilos and healthwise she is good for her age. We estimate that she is more than ten years old.
She has a Podenco head and a Dachshund body which makes her quite unusual. She is a quiet little girl that is happy living with the volunteers at SOS. She is not in a pen. She loves her meals and enjoys a couple of very short walks each day. It would be lovely if someone could give her a home for her last few years.
Doggie
Doggie is an Indian breed. He is 8, and his companion Bay has a brain tumour and will have to be put to sleep soon, at which point he will be devastated. He normally has wavy hair but has been clipped for summer. He worships people and loves to become attached to someone. He has manageable sandfly. He has been with SOS for 4 years.
Binfo
Binfo is 5 or 6 and has been at SOS for 3 years. He was an abandoned pet. Again he loves people. He is a strong dog who loves walking and has a mad 10 minutes at the start of walks where he is ecstatic to be out and about.
