Welcome to our Special Cases Page
On this page we feature dogs that are suitable for re-homing, but for different reasons, have not yet found a home.
Puppies are always adorable, and so often the first to get picked by people visiting the refuge. And we always have a selection of younger dogs to appeal to energetic people with young familes.
But we also have quite a few older residents - some have been with us since puppyhood and as they have got older, have been overlooked. But just like all the others, they want nothing more than a loving new home. For some people, giving a home to a dog in his or her later years could be the perfect answer – so if you could make an older dog happy, please contact us.
Kitos
Kitos was found wandering in the countryside close to SOS. He had a length a road trailing from round his neck. He was underweight and walking with a limp. Initially Kitos was nervous of people but this has totally changed. We gave him a very confident older friend and Kitos learned to trust us very quickly.
Kitos is a lovely gentle dog that enjoys human affection but absolutely loves to play with other dogs. Sadly for Kitos, after several visits with our vet, it seems that Kitos has permanent damage to his cruciate ligament in his back left leg. This means he will always walk with an obvious limp but our vet suspects he has carried this disability for a long time and has learned to live with it. It really doesn´t stop him running and playing. Kitos would love to be rehomed with another playful dog already in the family.

Elvis
Elvis is a dog with a sad story. He has been deliberately mutilated by someone and yet he still loves people. Elvis has no tail and both his ears have been, in the vets opinion, crudely cut off. Someone may have tried to use Elvis for dog fighting. Elvis was saved from euthanasia at a local pound sometime in 2007 by another animal charity. He was given to SOS in Jan 2010 and has lived with us very happily ever since.
Elvis loves affection and his absolute favourite thing is playing ball. He walks well on lead. He gets along very well with his mature female kennel companion. Elvis would love a real home. He would be quite content in a one dog family. A quiet home environment would probably suit him best.

Doggie
Doggie is an Indian breed. He is 8, and his companion Bay has a brain tumour and will have to be put to sleep soon, at which point he will be devastated. He normally has wavy hair but has been clipped for summer. He worships people and loves to become attached to someone. He has manageable sandfly. He has been with SOS for 4 years.
